With dance as the generating force we will incorporate visualization, drawing, sound, music and language - as well as the unfolding dynamic of the group to evoke our stories and dances. By integrating personal and artistic development, we initiate a deeply joyful return to the body. Anna Halprin's Life/Art Process emphasizes and revitalizes the whole person through the integration of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions.
About Anna Halprin:
Anna Halprin's career spans the field of dance since the late 1930s, creating revolutionary directions for the art form and inspiring fellow choreographers to take modern dance to new dimensions of human well-being. Long committed to a belief in the connection between movement and the healing power of dance, she has led countless collaborative dance programs with terminally ill patients. She has investigated numerous social issues through dance and through theatrical innovations. She has recognized new directions for dance and courageously followed those paths into unknown territories, ever-willing to adapt her work to the needs of the present moment. At the age of 86, she continues to perform, travel, and teach with fervor. Anna Halprin gets the most out of her life, living by her adage "Aging is like enlightenment at gunpoint."
