Bridging from embodiment to performance thru dance, a workshop
This summer, Shannon Preto, of the Bay Area company, Dance/Theater Shannon, leads 4 exciting new workshops focused on bridging embodiment to performance through movement generation and choreography. During the workshop, you will explore your movement suggestions from the heart, invent authentic choreography, and work on honing each aspect of performance. Segments can be taken individually for $30. Take all four segments for only $99. Dates: June 18-20, 2010Where: The Garage, 975 Howard, SF CA 94103 For more information:Shannon 510.684.4294dancetheater.shannon@gmail.comhttp://dancetheatershannon.org/ SEGMENT descriptions:Segment 1 (Fri. 1pm-4pm) – Embodying the heart in body and space:For this first session, we’ll embody the heart including the location in the body, the support for spatial orientation and come to understand the information residing in the heart. Segment 2 (Sat. 9:00-12:00p) – Moving from embodying the heart:From our embodiment of the heart, we’ll find movement that resonates with the perceptions of our heart and explore with how we can express through movement the different qualities of the heart. Segment 3 (Sat. 1:00p - 4:00pm) – Choreographing from movement of the heart:Using the movement and qualities for moving, we’ll spend some time putting movement together, finding what relates to what we’ve perceived and how it stay authentic in the choreographic process. Segment 4 (Sun. 10am-1p)– Layering textures & enhancing performance:Using the choreography, we’ll work towards texturing the movement to represent our findings during embodiment. We’ll also look at how these qualities can be triggered to enhance our performance skills.
