The Great Dickens Christmas Fair is a hotbed of international dance. The
Fair, celebrating it's 30th season in the Bay Area this year, is a holiday
adventure into Victorian London, with hundreds of costumed players in
100,000+ square feet of theatrically-lit music halls, dance parties, pubs
and winding lanes. Many of the over 600 performers bring to life the dances
of ancient England, the Continent, and the Far East. In addition to visiting
dance troupes, there are 5 'resident' dance companies at the Fair who
perform on 5 stages and on the Fairs 44' x 44' parquet dance floor where the
public may join in. The resident companies are:

Pipe and Bowl Morris - Ancient dances dating back to pre-Christian England
Siamsa le Cheile - Traditional Scottish and Irish Dank

Habi Ru - Middle Easter
Can-can Bijou - Classic French high-kicking dance
PEERS - (producers of the bi-monthly Gaskell Ball) - Victorian Ball room
dancing

As you wander the streets of the Fair, you will experience a twilight
evening in Charles Dickens¹ London Town a city filled with lively and
colorful characters from both literature and history. Enticing aromas of
roasted chestnuts and hearty foods fill the air. Cries of street vendors
hawking their wares ring out above the bustling crowd. So join the dance,
take a whirl in Fezziwigs and learn to Waltz or do the "Sir Roger De
Coverly", or descend into the lower side of London to enjoy the scandalous
French Can-Can or the enticing world the middle eastern dance with Habi Ru.
