"Special Dances Need Special Music" -
The Conscious Dance Deejays Group and Database

Dear Dance Organizer, Leader, or Deejay,

I'm host of the Conscious_Dance_Deejays group on Yahoo.com, and I'm an organizer, host, and deejay for Soul Sanctuary Dance, a weekly community-oriented freestyle dance in Berkeley, CA (http://www.soulsanctuarydance.com).

Special dances need special music. Those of us providing the music put a lot of effort and care into finding songs that go beyond the beat. Songs that don't promote prejudice, violence, substance abuse, hatred, or stereotypes.

Over 300 such songs are now listed in a searchable database at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Conscious_Dance_Deejays/ .

Those 300-plus songs have been added by deejays worldwide, representing a wide range of genres, since the birth of our group last October.

I'm inviting you (or your deejays - please forward this to them if you're an Organizer) to join Conscious_Dance_Deejays, to contribute to and benefit from our database and forum.

The main purpose of the group is to help you find the special music you need. (But it's NOT for sharing music files.)

We also use the group to share information about topics like sound systems, methods for obtaining and classifying songs, and for sharing playlists with special themes (like "thanks" for example).
