Author of Conscious Evolution Barbara Marx Hubbard reckons that creative people all over the

planet are like the imaginal cells of the caterpillar. Only by linking up and forming networks do

they make the quantum leap to transformation. “The breakdown of the caterpillar’s old system is

essential for the breakthrough of the new butterfly…. When the butterfly emerges, it doesn’t deny

the caterpillar—it is the caterpillar evolved.” We gratefully acknowledge the earth’s new electronic

nervous system, which allows us to grapple with the global scope of our problems. Even more

encouraging are the social networks of people beginning to realize the potential of our collective

consciousness.

Earthdance is one global network making the most of these new evolutionary capabilities.

Chris Deckker started Earthdance in 1996 with a straightforward mission. Bring people together to

dance and celebrate for peace. Synchronize these events all over the world. And invite indigenous

elders from all cultures to tell their stories. Today over 350 Earthdances are held in sixty countries

worldwide in the middle of September, anchored by the hub event located in Laytonville, California.

The artists, elders, and dance activists gathered globally pause at the same moment for a global

group-sound meditation. The intention of this gigantic synchronized OM is to harmonize the

healing energy and breathe life and enthusiasm into the heart of the social potential movement.

Participants can find great comfort in the knowledge that their voices are among hundreds of

thousands sharing the vision of a better world.

The Alliance: To cocreate a positive future, organizations with different resources but similar missions

will work together to maximize transformation. In this spirit, Conscious Dancer is pleased to

announce our nonprofit media alliance with Earthdance International. Our aim is to leverage the

potential of the Earthdance network through the creation of a “toolbox” for change.

The Toolbox: Conscious Dancer is developing a program to facilitate conscious dance in the three

places where we see it having the most effect: 1) in schools, the younger generation can be exposed to

dance and world music before they are numbed by consumer culture; 2) on the streets, the world can

witness dance as a power for peace, and different cultures can learn from one another in celebration of

life; 3) the state is where leaders can try a new approach to understanding, and experience their commonality

by sharing the nonverbal communication of conscious dance. Our “toolbox” will consist of

strategies for navigating the various bureaucracies involved, from local school boards and town permit

offices all the way up to the White House and the United Nations. Eighth grade to the G8? Why not!
